What is this, anyway?
September 13th, 2006What is Podcasting?
Think of podcasting as radio-on-demand. And more. People create the content—usually as a simple .mp3 file—and allow you to download it and listen at your convenience. You might listen to it on your computer while working, or burn it on a CD and play it during your commute. There’s any number of ways to describe it, but the real beatiful thing about podcasting is that you can find information on nearly any topic and listen to it for free at a time that’s convenient for you.
You can find some more information out at Gaming Podcasters.
What is this Dragon’s Landing Inn thing?
Here at the Dragon’s Landing Inn, we focus our podcast on ideas and advice for tabletop RPG gamers. We don’t focus on any specific games, like Dungeons and Dragons, World of Darkness, The Shadow of Yesterday, or anything else. We never focus on a specific genre, though we do have a tendency to baseline our discussions around the fantasy genre. In part because that’s what seems to get the lion’s share of attention, but mostly because that’s what we’re most familiar and comfortable with.
When given the opportunity, we attack subjects from a literary perspective. For example, our world-building features were discussed from a “how to apply literary concepts” angle. We hope that gives you a different perspective on roleplaying as storytelling.
Mostly, though, we’re about having fun, and helping you have more fun. We are relaxed and joking throughout every episode and invite the listeners to be a huge part of the show. We hope you will come and join in the fun.
